CROOKED HORN CANADIAN JUNIOR RODEO ASSOCIATION

RELEASE OF LIABILITY, WAIVER OF CLAIMS, ASSUMPTION OF RISK AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT
(MINOR PARTICIPANT)

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY — THIS DOCUMENT AFFECTS YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS.

THIS WAIVER MUST BE COMPLETED BY THE PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN OF ANY PARTICIPANT UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE. A MINOR MAY NOT COMPLETE OR ACCEPT THIS WAIVER.

PARTIES AND PURPOSE

This Agreement applies to all members, competitors, participants, volunteers, and attendees participating in any event, competition, practice, clinic, travel activity, fundraiser, or related program organized, sanctioned, or affiliated with Crooked Horn Canadian Junior Rodeo Association (“Crooked Horn”).

By accepting this waiver during online registration, the undersigned parent or legal guardian agrees to the terms below on behalf of the minor participant.

PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN DECLARATION

I certify and confirm that:

• I am the lawful parent or legal guardian of the minor participant.
• I have full legal authority to enter into this Agreement on behalf of the minor.
• I am completing the registration and waiver acceptance personally.
• I understand Crooked Horn is relying on this declaration to permit participation.

ASSUMPTION OF RISKS

I understand that rodeo and livestock activities are inherently dangerous and involve significant risks, including but not limited to:

• falls from horses or livestock
• kicks, bites, or unpredictable animal behavior
• collisions with riders, animals, fences, or equipment
• equipment failure
• arena surface hazards
• transportation risks
• serious injury, permanent disability, paralysis, or death

I freely and voluntarily accept and fully assume all risks, dangers, and hazards on behalf of my minor child, whether known or unknown, foreseeable or unforeseeable, including risks arising from negligence.

RELEASE OF LIABILITY

On behalf of myself, the minor participant, and our heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, I hereby release, waive, and forever discharge Crooked Horn Canadian Junior Rodeo Association and its directors, officers, volunteers, employees, contractors, sponsors, arena owners, stock contractors, partners, affiliates, and representatives (collectively referred to as “the Releasees”) from any and all claims, demands, damages, actions, or causes of action arising from or related to participation in Crooked Horn activities, including claims arising from negligence.

AGREEMENT NOT TO SUE

I agree that neither I nor the minor participant will commence or maintain any legal action against the Releasees for injury, loss, damage, or expense arising from participation in Crooked Horn activities.

INDEMNIFICATION

I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Releasees from any claims, liabilities, damages, costs, or legal expenses resulting from the minor participant’s involvement in Crooked Horn activities or any breach of this Agreement.

MEDICAL AUTHORIZATION

I authorize Crooked Horn representatives to obtain emergency medical treatment for the minor participant if I cannot be immediately contacted. I accept full financial responsibility for any medical treatment provided.

FITNESS TO PARTICIPATE

I confirm that the minor participant is physically, emotionally, and mentally capable of participating safely and is properly trained and equipped for rodeo activities.

MEDIA RELEASE

I grant permission for Crooked Horn to photograph or record the minor participant and to use images, video, names, and competition results for promotional, educational, sponsorship, and reporting purposes without compensation.

ELECTRONIC ACCEPTANCE AND LEGAL SIGNATURE

I acknowledge and agree that:

• This Agreement is executed electronically.
• Selecting “I accept the Terms and Conditions of the waiver” during online registration constitutes my legally binding electronic signature.
• This electronic acceptance has the same legal force and effect as a handwritten signature.
• A minor participant is not permitted to accept this waiver.
• By allowing registration to proceed under my name, email, or account, I confirm that I have personally reviewed and accepted this Agreement.

GOVERNING LAW

This Agreement shall be governed by and interpreted according to the laws of the Province of Alberta and the laws of Canada applicable therein.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

I confirm that I have read this Agreement carefully, understand its contents, understand that I am waiving substantial legal rights on behalf of myself and the minor participant, and accept these terms voluntarily. for further infomation please reach out to rodeooffice@chcjra.ca
