In this chapter, we're going to show you how to process a refund through your connected Stripe account and to make sure it all matches up in your Rodeo Producer account. First of all, we have our entries here in the October rodeo.
We have Jane Bear entered in this rodeo and we'll just click through here and we can see the fees owing.
We can see that there was a Stripe payment made online and in fact we even have the transaction ID. So before we deal with the refund, we're going to create a reason for the refund. We're going to go to Rodeo Results > Enter Results, and in the Senior Barrel Racing event, we have set Jane Bear as a Vet/Med Out, and, according to the rules of our rodeo organization, a Vet/Med Out will receive a refund.
So now we have created the reason for a refund. We will go back to the payments page here. We'll take our transaction ID and we'll just copy that to make it easier to find and we'll go to our Stripe account which we have already logged into.
We're now in the dashboard of that Stripe account.
We can paste that payment ID and Stripe is going to pull up that actual payment and we can see all the information here. Verify it is for Rodeo Fees for the October rodeo. It is the same amount. It was that payment ID.
So now we're going to hit the refund button and we're going to refund.
We can change the amount if we have reason to, such as if there's a portion of the fees you don't refund then you certainly can do that. You can choose to refund the application fee as well. Those are the charges associated with that payment transaction. We'll need to select a reason. It doesn't match any of those so we'll say other and we'll enter Vet/Med Out as the reason and then we're going to hit refund.
Now we're going to go back to the payment screen within our account here and we will see here's that transaction. There's the same transaction ID and we can see that it shows it was refunded. It has the refunded date here. So we've processed the refund in Stripe. This will now be credited back to that member.
Now we'll go and make sure we do the accompanying action within Rodeo Producer. Here is that transaction. We're going to mark as refunded. Set the Payment Type as refund, Payment Method as credit card and be sure to enter the amount as a -ve number. You can add a note as a reference. If you check the Notify to 'Yes' then RP will send a notification to the member.
Now we see that that payment is now offset by the refund. We'll go to the list of entries here and here we see Jane Bear showing the amount owing but that's because we've refunded her fees.
