Hello and welcome to our video in our member section on setting member types. We will go to the member menu, select set member types.

As we mentioned in our chapter on members, each member needs to have a membership and each membership requires a member type. So we'll just take a quick look at the membership type settings here.

We have the name of the membership type. We have the the amount or the cost of the membership type, as well as having free membership types. Display order is simply the order in which it appears on the screen when members are signing up. We have a short description of the membership type. You can add a prefix to the membership numbers. In this case it would it would uh the volunteer membership type would be preceded by a V. We describe some of the instruction below the table as well. You can add a suffix if if need be. You can choose to exclude a membership type from standings. As you see here the volunteers are excluded from standings. You can choose to exclude them from results. This may also be something that if your organization offers some free or some trial memberships perhaps you would exclude them or if you have another organization which co-sponsors or affiliated memberships then they may be excluded from standings or results here, to be used as as necessary. There may be a limit to the number of rodeos that a membership type can enter. Perhaps you have some local membership types limited to one. Perhaps you sell some permit membership types which could be limited to one or two. Then do you allow that member to to renew after they've reached their max? So can they permit after they've completed two rodeos? Can they renew for another two rodeos? All these decisions should be set to match your rulebook options.
We'll take a look at uh the senior membership type here just by clicking the edit button.

Obviously uh you can type in whatever name you want. Set the membership fee. Provide a description. Perhaps the senior membership fee is for members aged 55 and over or perhaps this is a senior membership that is for age 15 and up and your junior is 14 and down. Again it's all dependent upon your organization. The order in which we display it. You can set it to to not display as a public membership. So, so then only the admin can set these types. Here's the exclude from standings. We simply turn that on or turn it off. Also you can choose to exclude from results. So they would not be included in results calculations. They would not be able to win money or receive points. Here's the prefix and the suffix and the rodeos allowed setting and if you would allow them to renew or not. When you're finished, just hit save changes. Now we will see that that description has changed.

Again, each membership needs to have a membership type assigned. You can have as many membership types as you wish. Quite often they are aligned with your age groups. You could have senior, junior, pee-wee, novice, all those membership types. Membership types are also used for classification purposes in reports such as standings reports or all-around standings reports. We cover those in other chapters.
