In this chapter, we will be talking about the Review Results feature, which is a way that you can manually edit scores, payouts and points. We're logged into our demo account. We will go to Results > Review Results, and we will start off in our March rodeo.

We already have some results in this Bull Riding event. We see all of the fields here that are input fields. These are places where we can make manual edits. Keep in these are manual edits. So you are overriding what was calculated in Results > Enter Results and any field that you see you can make a change and that is whatever you input in that field will be saved. So you can't override total money, total ground money, total points, but by changing the money numbers or the points numbers, it will update the totals.

rodeo producer - results - review results - table

Let's go to the member number 117 entry and let's change money to an even $90. We're also going to change the points to 16 just so we can see what that does. So, we're only going to change this one entry.

rodeo producer - results - review results - 90 and 16

Then we submit results.

rodeo producer - results - review results - 90 and 16 totals

RP overwrites what was calculated in Results > Enter Results. It changed the 89.1 to 90. RP changed the 15 to 16. These are now what is included in the results for this entrant in this event in this rodeo and what would be carried forward to standings or any other reports. We will do the same thing now, in the April rodeo and in the same event.

We see we have a few more fields here. We have the Go 1 score, money, ground money, and points. We have the Go 2 score, money, ground money, and points. If we scroll over, we have the average. Because of there's so many columns in here, you will have to scroll back and forth a bit. RP has the the totals to the far right. You do have the ability to add notes, that would be when you make a manual change, you may put a note in there explaining what the change was or why the change was made. So we're going to do an edit. Let's go to the fourth entry in the table, member 109. There were $0 calculated in Go 1 and 7 points. $0 calculated in Go 2, 6 points. and $0 calculated and 14 points in the Average. Totals show $0 and 27 points. So let's just change this number of points in the Average to 13 and then Submit Results.

rodeo producer - results - review results - april rodeo mem 109 scroll

Now as we scroll back down to that entry and scroll over the points have changed to 13. The total points have now updated. So it's 7 + + + 13 which is 26.

You can change whatever you need to change for whatever reason you need to change it. But keep in mind that if you go to Results > Enter Results, and re-submit the scores, it will recalculate according to your payout formulas and points formulas. If you had a manual edit in here, it will overwrite it. So you should only do this when you are done with all of your results calculations. This should be the last thing you do before you set a rodeo as official so that it is shown as official on the member side and included in the season standings.

rodeo producer - results - enter results - select

We would then select an event and begin to enter scores and times. We will choose Bull Riding here.

rodeo producer - results - enter results - select event

When we begin entering the scores, this table is ordered by the performance and the order. So it would be 1 - 1, 1 - 2,  1 - 3 followed by 2 - 1 etc. When you are entering scores and times if the competitor does not record a score or does not complete their ride then you can just leave it blank or enter zero. If they have an out then you simply select the out and not enter anything in the score. So we will leave one of these as as an out. We will enter in some scores for bull riding here. And you can enter a score or a time up to three decimal places. Now in in a rough stock event, you typically won't need that many. Some associations may give half scores while some require it to be rounded to a whole number.

rodeo producer - results - enter results - bull riding

Once you have entered the scores then we will submit the results and it will use the payout formulas and points formulas that we have set  elsewhere in the system and calculate the results.

rodeo producer - results - enter results - bull riding - net purse

RP will display a message that scores / times have been updated for Bull Riding. When we began entering the scores, the entrants will be displayed in draw run order. Once we have entered the results and submitted for the calculations, RP will now show in placement order. Upon submission RP will calculate the winnings and the points. This organization has a maximum of 15 points for first place and then it decrements by two. So that's why you're seeing 15, 13, 11, 9 for points and the payouts in this case was paid out to the top three.  Points went to the top five. The points were set to go to all who completed a ride.  The entrant with a Vet/Med Out did not receive any money or points. This is what a typical one go standard rodeo would look like, even with two performances. All of the competitors are treated as one group when calculating the results. This happens to be a rough stock event, so it is ranked from top score to bottom score.

Let's have a look at another event here. Let's go to Pole Bending which will give us a look at an event based on time. In Pole Bending the ability to incur penalties. We have an input box for that. We are entering times instead of scores, so we'll put in some times and include a 5-second penalty for one entrant. When we have our times entered, we will click the Submit Results button.

rodeo producer - results - enter results - pole bending

RP will tell us that the scores times have been updated for Pole Bending and it will work through those payout formulas awarding dollars and points and all the way through all of the competitors receiving points.  In the table we see the entrant with a gross time and a penalty time and so their net time is the two combined which puts them in last place among those entrants with times.

Now for a quick look at a team event. Go to Open Team Roping. The display is just a little bit different. Similar but different in that the name column now includes both members of the team. There will be one time for the team. If a team had a miss, put in zero or leave blank. Once all the times are entered hit the Submit Results button.

rodeo producer - results - enter results - team roping

We receive the message that scores and times have been updated. We see in a timed event like team roping, that the payouts and points are are based on the lowest time followed in order and the team with the miss would not receive any dollars or points. The calculations again are based on calculation rules that will match your rulebook settings. If you have other rules such as every competitor receives a participation point or receives five participation points or some other rules like that, those can be worked into the settings as well.

What we'll do now is we'll have a look at a 2 Go Plus Average rodeo and the entry for that which will look a little bit different. We're going to our April rodeo

and we start where we started before, Bull Riding. We have the competitors sorted by the run order in the Go. So we have not entered any scores yet. So we start on Go One and run order of 1 followed by 2 3 4 and 5.

rodeo producer - results - enter results - 2 go - bull riding

We can view this ordered by Go 2 if we wish. Select Go 2 and click Submit and now it'll be uh Go 2 - 1.  Go 2 -2.  Go 2 - 3. Go 2 - 4. Go 2 - 5. As we have not entered any scores yet, we'll stick with the Go 1 run order. One thing that we'll see is different here is there is an option to calculate the Average. So, we will this turn this off. The reason we have the option to turn this off is some organizations will enter all their scores for go one, calculate their results, and then they will post those results. They will show them as official and if we had calculated the average it would appear as if there is money won in Go 1 as well as in the Average and we want to avoid those kinds of questions and any confusion. We can simply turn this off and then we would turn it on again as we're entering Go 2. In the outs we have the ability to set an out for Go 1 or Go 2 or both. We have a score input field which is for Go 1. We have another score input field which is for Go 2 and we have the money and points calculations for Go 1, for Go 2, and for the Average. The Average will be calculated by RP based on our score/time entries here.

rodeo producer - results - enter results - 2 go - bull riding - inputs

We'll add some scores. Once we've added the scores we will Submit. You can also add a score and submit, add a score and submit, add a score and submit as you go if you wish. What that will do is display the scores on the public side as well, but it will not show the dollars. The dollars will only show on the public side, or the member side, once you have turned on the option to display the results on the public side.

rodeo producer - results - enter results - 2 go - bull riding - submitted

We can set the outs by Gos as well. If a competitor completes their ride in Go One but not Go Two, we can set that out according to the Gos or if they happen to be missing out on both then we would set both outs.

rodeo producer - results - enter results - 2 go - bull riding - inputs - go 2

First, RP will show us that it has calculated payouts. A summary is provided of the entry fees, the admin fee percentage, what the net purse is, number of entrants, and the rodeo draw format.

rodeo producer - results - enter results - 2 go - bull riding - net purse

RP will display for us that for Go 1, here's the purse. RP is going to pay out points, in this case, to five placings and the payout percentages (as we have set in Settings > Set Payouts and Placings) is going to pay 60% to first place and 40% to second place and first place points will be 10. We do have a message here saying the average calculation is turned off.

rodeo producer - results - enter results - 2 go plus average - bull riding - messages

As we scroll down to the calculations we have the payout of the 60% and the 40% and points of 10, 9, 8, 7, and 6. This is different than how we had the points set for the standard rodeo which you can do in your settings. Depending on your format, depending on your rodeo, you can have different points calculations. That's Go 1. Dollars and points shown here. You'll also see the total money and total points shown over in the right hand columns.

Let's now enter the scores for Go 2. You can enter scores as whole numbers, such as 68, which would be a normal way to enter a Bull Riding score. If your organization also allows half points, you can set it as .5. Perhaps it's an average of several judges. For now, we'll just show this as a whole number. It defaults to three decimal places, even if we enter a whole number. So we will submit this score. We have calculate average still turned off.

rodeo producer - results - enter results - 2 go plus average - bull riding - averages off

RP will give us our summary, our information on Go 2. For this rodeo format we have it set so that it pays 30% of the purse to Go 1, 30% of the purse to Go 2 and 40% of the purse to the Average. When we turn on Calculate Average in just a moment here we will see how that works. Now we have the money and points from Go 1, money and points from Go 2. In the table we have an entrant who did not receive any money in Go 1. They did in Go 2. And so the totals reflect that.

rodeo producer - results - enter results - 2 go - bull riding - points

We will now set Calculate Average to yes. Note that when you do this, this is a setting which is rodeo wide. This is not specific to this event. It will turn Calculate Average on for all of your events in this rodeo. That is now set. We will now resubmit the results to calculate the payout for the Average.

rodeo producer - results - enter results - 2 go - bull riding -averages

Here we see Averages are calculated and payouts are in place. So again using the 60% and 40% but at a higher amount. The net purse allocated to the average was 40% while it was 30% for the Gos. We will see an amount which is slightly higher and we had set this so that the Average was going to award points to first place of 20 and then decrement by 2, just to show off some of the the features here. We see that some members are paid for the Average and the total money and total points is now reflective of Go 1, Go 2 plus the Average.

One thing that we do want to stress is that in order for your payouts to work correctly, your payout formulas in Set Payouts and Placings must be configured properly. Otherwise you will get incorrect results calculations. One of the things that we do at Rodeo Producer is we help you with that part. We want to make sure that we work with you to get that correct because you're dealing with money and points which have an impact on standings. We want to make sure that those are set correctly to reduce the stress and this is something that we strongly encourage to be checked through with a Test Rodeo prior to your season starting that checks your different rodeo formats, your different event types and goes through and and confirms that your payout formulas and points formulas are correct. That's part of our onboarding process and we do that as a free service. It will reduce the amount of stress and if there are problems we will find out about those problems on a pre-season weekday as opposed to on an in-season Saturday afternoon when your numbers are wrong and then panic sets in and then there's a lot of stress.  We can avoid that with a little bit of preparation.
