In this chapter, we will discuss running two specialized types of draws. We will run the Single Event Draw and we'll also run the Short Go draw. We are in a Team Roping Competition here, but the same draw procedures can be done for Barrel Racing, and for Rodeo, it follows the same process. The workings may be a little bit different behind the scenes, but the process from the admin is the same for all.

We have a Draw Pot event here and it has three Rounds including a Short Round. That means that the third Round is going to be the Short Round and it's going to pass four teams to the Short Round. We have a number of entries in our Draw Pot event and so we're ready to run the Single Event Draw.

We go to Competition Setup > Generate Draw or we can just go to the Jump Menu here and go Generate Draw. The first thing we want to do is choose our Competition. We don't need to initialize the draw. The Single Event Draw will do that for us. We're going to run the Draw on one event only. This is a Team Roping draw, it will follow the exact same procedure that it would follow if it was running the Draw on all of the Events, but it will run it only for this one Event. It will do all of the header / healer team combining, everything that is required to Generate the Draw for this Event. Then we will select the Competition and now we have a list of which events we want to run this for. We wanted to run this for the Draw Pot. Here it's showing us there's two Rounds.

We run the draw for this one Event and it's going to tell us that this is what it ran for us. We see that there are draw orders in columns Go One and Go Two. You'll see that there are no run orders for Go Three and Go Four. That's what we're looking for.

We are now going to go to the Draw Preview and have a look to confirm that everything has has worked. We're using the Draw Pot Event. It's already selected the March 3rd roping. We're going to have a look at all the rounds. So we choose none selected and we want to view all the Rounds. Here we can see we have Team 1, Team 2, Team 3, Team 4, Team 5, Team 6 and we see that we have our Run Order here. We scroll down to Round 2 and we see Draw positions for this Round not yet available. Because this is an Event with a Progressive Draw, we don't yet know which of these teams are going to advance to the Second Round, and the same with Round 3, we don't yet know which teams are going to advance to the Short Go Round.

In a Team Roping Competition, the next steps would be to use the Progressive Announcer Sheet as the event runs. We'll go ahead and do this and we'll skip ahead a little bit for the demo purposes. We're going to enter Round 1 and Round 2 and then show you where we're at.

We've jumped ahead here. We have times entered for all the teams here. Because this is a demo, we did enter times for all of the Teams. In a normal Team Roping Event, you would likely have some teams that miss, that have a No Time. But just for the purposes here, we've put times into all of the teams. Now that we've got our first two Rounds completed, it's time to run the Short Go Draw and we go to Competition Setup > Generate Draw or we can go to the Jump Menu here. We make sure that we have the right Competition selected. We are going to run a Short Go Draw. Choose the Event we've been running, the Draw Pot and look at the summary details to confirm everything is correct. There are 2 Progressive Rounds. We have this set so that the Short Go Draw order is going to run slowest to fastest and we're going to advance four teams from the previous rounds to the short go. We'll hit Run This Draw and we scroll down and we'll see some messages that tell us that Teams 5, 1, 2, and 4 have been advanced to the Short Go Round.

We go to our Progressive Announcer Sheet and we go to Round 3 and we can see here we have teams 5, 1, 2, and 4 and the Draw Order is slowest time to fastest time. We can view this in Rodeo Sheets > Draw Preview as well. If we go to our March 3rd Roping and our Draw Pot Event, we have Round 3 selected and here we see that it's just those four teams showing in the Draw and Draw Order slowest to fastest.

So in summary, you can run the Single Event Draws and you can run the Short Go Draw for any type of event, whether it's Team Roping, Barrel Racing, or Rodeo. It's the same process on the Admin side. Behind the scenes, there will be different things happening based on the event type such as in Team Roping there will be team combining, matching single header healer combining if necessary. Individual Rodeo and Barrel Racing Events will not need to draw teams and will generate a run order based on your draw order settings.
