Integrated Event Types in Rodeo Producer
Rodeo Producers offers the ability to manage three competition types: Rodeo competitions, Barrel Racing Competitions, and Team Roping Competition. In addition, all these competition types, or event types, can be managed within one integrated competition. Your account, when created will have been set to a primary competition/event type, either Rodeo, Barrels. or Team Roping. You can change your primary event type in Settings > Account.
Having a primary event type only means that is the default for your account. You can manage all event types with a simple click of a button to switch the event type you are managing.

For more information, please see Integrated Accounts.
In this chapter, we'll discuss setting up events. We'll go to Rodeo Setup > Set Events.

The reason that we talk about events before we talk about rodeos is that in order to set up your rodeos, you will need to have your events in the database so that you can select which events to include in your rodeos. We already have a list of events here in our demo. We will show you how to create new events, as well as edit existing, and describe all the features here. So there's a number of columns in this table and they correspond to the different settings that you can make when you're setting up or editing an event.

Best to display this by editing. We'll start off with barrel racing. You can click the edit button or actually just click right on the event name.

One of the things we did here intentionally is, this is a timed event, but we turned off the penalty just so we can show you how to turn that on. We click on barrel racing to edit the event and you can name your event anything you want. We can change this to senior barrel racing. You'll notice that there's a lot of descriptions with each each of these fields. Most of what we have in this chapter is already in here on screen. The draw sort order determines the order in the draw that the event will appear. In this case, barrel racing or senior barrel racing is going to be the first event displayed in the draw. The entry fee is what an entrant, a competitor, will pay to enter this event. This amount is included in the payout purse. You can also override this fee for specific rodeos. The display fee is if you wish to show the combination of entry fees plus additional admin fees in one lump sum on the rodeo schedule you can enter that amount here. If this event has a different entry fee for your finals rodeo, you would set it here. If you leave it at zero, it will use the existing entry fee. Check the box to allow exhibition runs within this event and it will present that option on the entry form. If there is a separate fee, often a lesser amount, for the exhibition entry fee, you would enter it here. If this is a timed event such as barrel racing, pole bending, other other timed event, we we would check the box to turn on scoring by time. We will click the check box to turn on penalty. What that does is it displays a box within the results entry screen to allow the admin to add a penalty if appropriate. We would check the box if it's a team event. We'll show you this more when we do a team roping event.

Two factor scoring. If you're going to score this event by both score and then time, or time and then score, we would select that. Jackpot pairing is something that if you're also running a jackpot and running this event, this may be appropriate for you. If this is an event that will not pay out dollars, it will only pay out points, then we would turn No Pay on to skip any dollar calculations. If this event is run in a draw format different than what your rodeos typically are, then we can set that here. If you would typically run a standard one Go rodeo, but barrel racing is always two Gos then we would do this. It overrides that rodeo draw format for this event and displays it properly in the draw. Do not show in the draw is a setting so that you can add other charges that your members can select, things like horse stall rentals or banquet tickets. This will allow your members to select that, pay for it, at the same time as their events. It will not incur charges such as per event charges in the admin fees. This "event" will not show up in the draw. It allows you to to charge for those types of items. We have another special use "event" here a Non-Entry event. This event will not be included in the entry form for members. Only an admin would be able to add this particular event or this particular charge to a members entry. If this is a rough stock event or if there will be stock assigned then we would check this box so that the option is available and visible on the various forms and reports. We did change the penalty. You can also add judges cards messages here. If you want to provide specific instructions to judges that will appear on the judges cards, you can add that here. Lastly we click to Save. We have changed this to Senior Barrel Racing and penalties are now turned on.
We'll now skip down to the Team Roping event and we'll look at some of the team settings here.
We have it turned on so that it is a team event. We can specify the names of the roles for the team members such as header and healer. In team events we can also specify whether the event is going to use parent partners. In this case, the entrant will be one of the roles and the parent will be the other role. The parent will be opposite of whether the entrant chooses chooses header or healer. We can also set this so that the standings for this event are not broken into the roles of header and healer standings, they will be combined into one just a team event. We also have the ability to do a three person team event. The rest of these options will be similar to the Barrel Racing event that we showed above. We'll save this and then we'll have a quick look at a rough stock event.

We'll go to Saddlebronc. There should be some different settings here. Something we want to point out is the entry fee can be different for every single event. It's not one entry fee for every event. You can set each event to be a different entry fee. This is not a timed event. Penalties don't typically apply for events like this, but what there's usually stock to assign. We would we would make sure that one is turned on. If we made any changes, we would hit submit to save.

Most of the columns here display what we set in in those forms. The table will also display whether or not these particular events are included uh in some of the all-around categories. When we discuss all around standings and settings, we'll get more into that as well.
