In this chapter, we will show you how to generate a stock draw. We will choose Rodeo Setup > Generate Stock Draw.
Select the rodeo. Before you generate the stock draw, ensure that you have generated your placement draw for all the entrants and you also want to make sure you have selected all the stock from all the contractors that is to be available for this draw. That you would have done in Set Stock for Draw. You should have set your re-ride stock prior to generating the stock draw. The re-ride stock will be excluded from this draw generation so that it is maintained as re-ride stock and not assigned to a competitor. All we need to do is make sure we have done those prior steps, that we've selected the right rodeo, that we know that these are the right stock contractors, and then we simply hit the Run Stock Assignment Draw.
We should get some messages as to the draws it has ran and this will be a message per each event per each performance that it has ran the draw and then it will tell us that the stock assignment draw is complete.
We can click the View the Draw link to go and view the rodeo draw which will include all of the competitor draw placements as well as the stock assignments. We would select the rodeo and we can scroll down to a rough stock event. We can see where we have our stock assigned. You'll notice in our draw we have set the re-ride stock for Bareback.
We have set it for Bull Riding.
We have set it for Saddlebronc and there are the re-ride stock assignments. And you'll notice as you look through the list that these are not assigned to any of the competitors.
This stock draw will only use the stock that we have set as available and it will randomize the order in which it is assigned. If your contractor has not provided you with enough stock to run only once for each performance, then after assigning all the available animals, it will re-randomize the list and begin assigning to the competitors who have not yet had a stock animal assigned to them. Just to mention again, the re-ride stock that you would have selected prior to this will be maintained, those animals will not be assigned in that performance or in that go to a competitor. And that is what it takes to run a stock draw.
